If you would prefer to have certain data deleted without closing your account, tell us in your request and we will do this where we can.
In some cases we are required, or permitted, by law to retain certain information after your account is deleted. For example:
Where we must retain information, we keep it only for as long as the relevant legal obligation requires, isolate it from any further use, and delete or anonymise it once that period has passed. Residual copies may also persist in backup archives for a limited period before they are removed.
Many of our Services are provided under contract with an organisation, such as your employer or a business you are a customer of. In those cases, that organisation controls the information processed by the Services, and you should direct your request to them in the first instance. If you are not sure who to contact, get in touch with us and we will help direct your request to the right place.
We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond within one month of receiving it. If your request is complex, or you have made several requests, we may extend this by up to two further months; if so, we will tell you within the first month and explain why.
If you have unresolved concerns about how we handle your personal data, you have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. If you live or work elsewhere, you can contact the data protection authority in your country.
